Johan Put is full professor at the Faculty of Law of the KU Leuven (University of Leuven, Belgium), affiliated to as well the Institute of Social Law (ISR) as the Leuven Institute of Criminology (LINC).

He teaches courses on social law and youth law and has written around 350 publications on these subjects.

Johan Put is involved in many, often interdisciplinary, research projects on social care, youth justice and children’s rights. He is editor-in-chief of the Flemish Tijdschrift voor Jeugd en Kinderrechten (Journal of Youth and Children’s Rights) and member of the Editorial Board of ‘Youth Justice - An International Journal’ and of several Belgian reviews.

He is also ‘assessor’ at the Belgian Council of State (Legislation Section) since 2012.
